How to make a Tequila Sunrise Cocktail

The thing about cocktails is that you can’t order them on Chowdeck. You literally have to go out and sit at a lounge to get one. Or if you’re really good at searching, you might be lucky to find a vendor online that sells packaged cocktail. And again if you’re lucky, you get a really good one. What if we tell you you can make a great cocktail in the comfort of your home with as little as 3 ingredients you can easily get at the supermarket? Let’s get right to it!

So today we’re making a tequila sunrise. A pretty drink that pairs well with barbecue chicken wings. On a totally unrelated note, do you know how hard it is to spell barbecue? Try spelling it with your eyes closed, bet you added letter Q. Sorry love, there’s no Q in barbecue. What a bummer huh? Okay back to the main gist ;).

What do you need?

Ingredients

Orange juice (6 parts)

Tequila (3 parts)

Grenadine Syrup (1 part)

To be honest, you might run into some trouble getting grenadine. However, since it’s the weekend and we’re being hella generous, we’ll add a bonus tip for you. Keep reading to find out.

The making

You need a clean glass, ideally transparent so you can see what you’re making.

Pour 6 parts orange juice into the glass

Next you add 3 parts of tequila (or 4 depending on how strong you like your cocktail, wink*)

The last thing you add is the grenadine (1 part)

By the way, parts is another way of saying ratio. Basically it refers to a proportion of ingredients used in a recipe, rather than a specific quantity. This way it allows for flexibility. For example, let’s say a recipe calls for 3 parts oil, one part vinegar. That means for every measure of vinegar added, 3 equal measures of oil must be added.

And that’s it. Your tequila sunrise is ready!

For garnish; Cut a medium sized slice of yellow lemon, make a little opening in the middle so you can hang it on the rim of the glass. Add sweet cherry also. Of-course all these are optional, but totally don’t skip it if you want to make a quick Snap about it. You can add ice cubes as well or just do it the old school way and put it in the fridge to get cool. Don’t be in a hurry, this is self-care at it’s best. Plus ice cubes dilute the taste of any drink except water anyway, so we definitely do not recommend.
