Are you a busy body? If you’re like me your answer will likely fall to “ofcourse not!”. Or the question might have even mortified you, I mean who starts a piece like that? But do not fear, I have seen scary things and I will tell you for free, usually they don’t look scary at first glance.
Usually they look harmless. A child that frequently gets told “Look how well behaved so and so’s kid is.” Saying yes, when you actually want to say no. Looking at the mirror and thinking “If only I could be…”. Seemingly harmless little things right? When done frequently enough, sooner or later they lead to scary things, the most costly one being loss of self or identity. There’s nothing scarier than a person out of touch with both reality and themselves but most importantly themselves. Often times we’re so ignorant or so busy that we do not see these little things, chipping at us, calling for attention or at least a second look.
“All that glitters is not gold.”
Often times it is glittery to distract us from what we are actually meant to see. For that reason I have left this piece bare and permitted myself to be as simple as possible in my delivery. There’s nothing wrong with a child being a peculiar way, saying no is actually a form of self-care and there’s certainly nothing wrong with your body.
I wrote a piece a while back that I’ll share with you. It goes like this,
“You have unusual facial features. Typically the combination of these features don’t go well together. But on your face, they’re beautiful.”

You are who you are. The more you run away, the more you try to blend in, the more you try to be nice, the more you lose bits of yourself without realizing.
I’ll tell you another scary thing; Numbness. What are we without feelings? You shiver when it’s cold, you sweat when it’s hot, your eyes brighten with excitement when you achieve a goal you’ve been working on. Feelings are important for our existence. If you think feeling is anything other than the magic it is please remember that a blind person sees through feeling. How you feel is a direct connection with self, the world around you and the Creator. Before you invalidate someone’s feelings or yours, remember that numbness comes as a result of feeling too much to the point where it erupts and little to nothing is left.
Busy bodies often ignore the little things both in themselves and in others and pay most attention to the “big” things. Ignoring the fact that even in science, small things when compounded make up the big ones and 10,000 will never be 10,000 without 1. So I ask, how are you feeling, really?
I wrote a piece some weeks back that might come in handy if you’re someone dealing with numbness or it’s little sister, depression. You can read it here. Till next time dear reader…
Stay kind, stay intentional and stay blessed.
